Former US President Donald Trump, who faced severe criticism for his verbal attacks on immigrants, which some likened to Nazi philosophy, said that he had never read Adolf Hitler's book "Mein Kampf" without hesitating to escalate his inflammatory tone.
Trump, the most likely candidate to win the Republican Party's presidential nomination in 2024, said on Tuesday evening during a campaign rally in Iowa: "It is true that they are spoiling the blood of our country. This is what they are doing. They are destroying our country."
Trump (77 years old) made similar statements last weekend, sparking a storm of criticism. A White House spokesman accused him of "echoing the ugly rhetoric of fascists and violent white supremacists."
Last month, President Joe Biden, who defeated Trump in the 2020 election and is likely to face him again in 2024, accused the former president of echoing the positions of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler by describing his opponents as "vermin."
Trump on Tuesday evening denied any similarities, saying, "I never read Mein Kampf ," adding that Hitler used such language "in a completely different
